Sault Ste. Marie will be home to a new-concept high school in September 2011.
That's when the brand new White Pines Integrated Arts and Culture Collegiate and Vocational Secondary School will open.Well, we aren't sure exactly what the name will be.
But we do know that White Pines will be transformed into Algoma District School Board's first and only secondary school to offer a comprehensive integrated arts and culture focus.
Kayla Faganely, the school's dance and physical education teacher told board members tonight that the new school will allow students of White Pines to graduate with a specialist high skills major diploma, something many post-secondary institutions are now recognizing with scholarships and special considerations.
